Wyrdwood Studio is run by David and Sandra, who met at the School of Jewellery in 2010. Their shared love of nature, ancient stories and dark forest fantasy sparked a creative partnership that has now been trading for thirteen years. As they put it, Wyrdwood was brought to life from a fascination with Nordic and Celtic folklore and a desire to create handmade treasures that feel touched by the wild.

Their stall is a blend of silver, bronze, copper and pewter, shaped into jewellery, runes, bangles and pendants, alongside laser cut wooden oddities and giftware. Every piece carries a sense of story, crafted with care and a deep respect for the myths that inspire them.

Jewellery and Giftware Rooted in Folklore

Wyrdwood Studio describe their work as handmade nature inspired and Celtic and Nordic inspired jewellery and giftware. Their pieces range from delicate silver pendants to bold bronze bangles, hand cast pewter runes and beautifully made dice chests that have become firm favourites among visitors.

Their best sellers reflect the heart of their craft. Jewellery pendants and bangles, pewter runes and their distinctive dice chests are always in high demand. These items feel both ancient and modern, the kind of pieces that could be worn in a Viking hall or on a woodland walk today.

A Studio That Makes

One of the most common questions they hear is, “Do you make these?” followed closely by “Oh I have not seen that before.” It is a reaction they treasure, because it means people are recognising the originality of their work.

“We seem to surprise folk for some of the things we make and the subject of the items or the fact it is actually handmade. In a world of Temu and buying in we hope to keep shocking folk that we make and design what we sell.”

Almost everything on their stall is made by hand. If an item is sourced, it is altered or used as a component in something new. This commitment to craft is part of what makes Wyrdwood Studio such a special presence at events.

Their influences lean toward the Viking age and into the medieval period, drawing on the symbols, shapes and stories of those eras. The result is a collection that feels timeless and atmospheric.

Why They Are Returning to Sherwood

Wyrdwood Studio joined Gathering of the North for the first time last year and the experience left a lasting impression.

“After the amazing start last year we loved the immersion of the re enactors, the many people who visited and of course it is located in the most amazing forest. Sherwood.”

Their love of historically inspired events began years ago through Dark Age reenactment. The atmosphere, the living history, the enthusiasm of visitors and the chance to share unique handmade pieces all play a part in why they return.
